Chandigarh, located at the foothills of the Shivalik range, is known as one of the most successful experiments in urban planning and modern architecture in the twentieth century India. Over the years since its conception, Chandigarh and its neighboring localities have proven to be a hub for pharmaceutical industries and related corporate sectors. Multiple pharma companies have also set up facilities for research and development. The city also has established hospitals of quality care in its region.
To foster and sustain close academic alliances between institutions of higher education and research in this region, Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) (http://crikc.puchd.ac.in/) was established. It identifies and carries out joint and collaborative research projects among the many educational, research, medical, engineering and industrial institutes present in the city and adjoining areas.
